The Health Sector is a basic pillar of the economic and social development of a country and entails the great responsibility of all participants so as to ensure compliance with the principles of accessibility, quality, sustainability and consequent credibility.
To this end, the National Health Service (SNS) plays a crucial role of capital importance for ensuring the right to health protection by way of an all-in, general service, generally free-of-charge, bearing in mind the economic and social conditions of citizens.
This mission is not only incumbent upon the SNS, which alone is not able to ensure full compliance therewith. The private and social sectors of health are asserted as an alternative which, supplementing and/or complementing the SNS, enable greater capacity of supply with the quality required of health care.
On the other hand, the private sector, which finances the Health costs of the population by way of the social responsibility of companies and private individuals, borne out by insurance and/or Health plans, accident at work insurance and other branches which relate to the assuming of costs associated with physical damages, assumes a decisive role throughout the Portuguese Health System. Nowadays, the private financing/payment sector is a vital mainstay of SNS sustainability.
Our founders, acknowledged entrepreneurs, have combined international experience with the reality of the Portuguese Health system and have created AdvanceCare as a heath system management entity which carries out its activity based on the best international practices and which it assumes with total conviction and responsibility, its mission to “manage with excellence health and well-being services” based on its Values and Policies of Quality, Human Resources and Social Responsibility.
We believe that “everyone is entitled to health protection and the duty to defend and promote” and we are convinced that the clear distinction between the roles to be played by the financier, payer, use rand provider, with demanding regulation, is a critical success factor for responsible compliance with the aforementioned principles of the accessibility, quality and sustainability of a Health System.
